How to Stick to Your Workout Plan

It takes 30 days or one month to form a habit. So, if you could stick to your workout plan for that long then it would become a habit and part of your daily lifestyle. So how can you get to those 30 days before throwing in the towel and giving up? Reward yourself for working out every week. Here are some ways that you can reward yourself.

WRITE OUT YOUR PLAN: First you need to write out a plan. Use a wall calendar for this. Write down on each day of the week what type of exercising you will do, weather it be walking or running or simply a workout DVD. Write down how long you will do this exercise for. Now on Fridays or Saturdays, instead of writing down an exercise, write down what you will reward yourself with for completing your planned exercises all week.

SHOPPING DAY: Maybe your reward will be to spend the day shopping. Maybe only window shopping, but shopping none the less. You can give yourself a spending limit like $30 or $40 to spend on yourself since you stuck to your workout routine.

MOVIE: You could reward yourself with going and watching a movie that you have been wanting to see. Or you could rent a movie that you’ve been wanting to watch.

STAY IN BED: Reward yourself by staying in bed until noon watching T.V. Get a cup of coffee or tea and a light breakfast and spend the morning relaxing.

BUBBLE BATH: Treat yourself to a hot relaxing bath with bubbles and candles. Turn on your favorite music and unwind.

SPEND A DAY WITH A FRIEND: Reward yourself with a day spent with a special person, weather it be a friend, spouse, child, or grandchild.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY: Get out and ride your bike, play with the kids, or play tennis as a reward. This would be a great reward, because not only is it fun, but it will burn calories as if you were working out.

TAKE A TRIP: You could even save all of your rewards until the end of the month. At the end of the month you could take a weekend getaway trip. Take a drive to a senic log cabin or a secluded beach. Go on a short skiing trip or visit an old friend.

FOOD: You could reward yourself with a small treat that you really love. Just be careful if you choose to reward yourself this way. You don’t want to undo the good that you have done.

Remember that the best reward of all will be losing the weight and being healthier because of sticking to your workout routine.
