McDonald’s announced today that it has replaced frozen beef with a quarter of a pound and a signature recipe hamburger for about 3,500 restaurants in a particular market. According to the company’s press release, the upgrade will be available at all participating restaurants adjacent to the United States in early may.
The fast-food giant, said in the test market customers love “more heat, more juice” fresh meat a quarter pound hamburger, and the company “see order hamburgers customer 90% customer satisfaction, and repurchase intentions to 90% customer satisfaction. ”
Apparently, there are some flavors and temperature advantages that make the burger “ripe when you order, not just a second,” as Mickey D’s website says. But what we really want to know is: is it healthier to make hamburgers with fresh beef than with frozen hamburgers?
Anyway, no. “The most sophisticated cuts can make beef healthier, so total saturated fat and calories are lower,” says nutritionist Julie Upton, a nutritionist and co-founder of healthy appetite. For most women, the 13 grams are about 5 percent, Upton said. “If you eat this cheeseburger, you won’t have more saturated fat all day,” she said. “Most importantly, there’s 46% of sodium in the burger, and you should eat it in one day.”
, McDonald’s said the shift towards fresh beef is part of a larger commitment to the customer – include this commitment to purchase only 2025 not steamed eggs, and provide without artificial preservatives or chicken treated with antibiotics. Announced in 2015 and completed in 2016 after a change to get recognition from the public health advocates, they say antibiotics in livestock is lead to dangerous driving force of the rise in antibiotic resistant bacteria.
While the new McDonald’s focus on sustainable development and production of fresh food is very good, and, for the occasional splurge more delicious hamburger, but it is important to remember that the latest changes will not bring health benefits. In addition to fast food, it’s important to remember that frozen foods can be as nutritious as fresh. “The freezing process itself does not destroy nutrients,” the usda said. “In meat and poultry products, the nutritional value of frozen storage is almost unchanged.”
